Setup Essentials > Searching for a Mentor to Assign to a Mentee

You can search for a mentor based on keywords, and then use the search results to request a mentor match. You might want to do this to find a suitable mentor for a specific mentee, based on matching specified skills and expertise.

To search for a mentor:

1.	In the Mentees list on the left-hand menu, click on the mentee’s name to select the profile of the mentee to be matched. If the mentee is not already matched to a mentor then the Request a Mentor button will be visible:

Note: Depending on how you have defined your security, it is possible to allow the mentee access to this functionality so that individual mentees are able to search for and request a mentor match. The mentee would simply access this from their own profile screen.

2.	Click Request a Mentor.

3.	The Search page is displayed:

4.	Enter your search criteria in the keywords box, with multiple criteria separated by commas.

The Search All Mentors check-box allows you to search the entire mentor list, including mentors who have reached their Maximum number of mentees limit, and are therefore not able to accept any new mentor requests. If this box is unchecked then the search results will not include any mentors who have reached their maximum number of mentees. We recommend that you leave it unchecked..

6.	Click Search to start the search.

7.	The search results will list all mentors who satisfy any of the criteria specified. The best matches are listed at the top, with less good matches lower down. The green ticks show which skills matched the search criteria:

8.	From here, you can:

•	Look at the mentor’s profile in more detail by clicking the hyperlink on the mentor’s name

•	Send a private message to a mentor by clicking the icon to the right of the mentor’s details

•	Match a mentor to the mentee whose profile you started with by clicking Submit Mentor Request button.

9.	When you have identified the appropriate mentor, click Submit Mentor Request to match the selected mentor with the mentee whose profile you started with.
